Why do guys act so complicated?

Why do guys act so complicated? They tell a woman they really like them, then only talk to them every few days. Are they trying not to appear desperate? And when you ask a guy, hey- its been 5+ months... whats going on here- they say, "hey lets just play it by ear".. too me, that means "I'll keep you around until something better comes along." You try and cut the guy off- and he keeps coming back. WHY? Please just make up your mind you indecisive twit.
