A question about control freaks?

I have a friend who is a total control freak. She's happily married to her HS sweetheart, has a very successful career, has 3 adorable healthy children all of whom she planned, and had naturally at home without so much of a tylenol for pain. Money is never an issue, she's always going out shopping, I always hear about the latest gadgets and gizmos that she and her husband have purchased. She's an amazing woman and everything she sets out to do she accomplishes, however on the other hand she CONTROLS everything. There is nothing beyond her control, nothing she can't handle. She plans, and schedules every single action of her life. My question is, do people who act on those urges to control everything have more luck, they definitely seem like happier people? What is the downside of being a control freak? What makes them tick? Are there any downsides to being a control freak?? all I see is the perfect woman, the perfect family, the perfect career, the perfect life.
