"Not perfect,just forgiven".Is that an excuse not to strive to be"perfect as your father in heaven is perfect"?

It's an utterly obnoxious phrase used primarily by fundies who love to put words in God's mouth. They walk around calling themselves "saved" and "forgiven" as though it's a foregone conclusion. It seems to me you have to die first to know if God's forgiven or saved you.
