How to ask for a mohawk/fauxhawk haircut?

I'd like to ask my barber for a fauxhawk hairstlye but I'm not quite sure what to say. I go to a barbershop where mostly old people( 40's +) are the barbers, and I tried asking last time I went but the barber didn't understand. Should I bring in pictures next time? I'm going for a Kid Cudi type of look except I'm white lol. Would I have better luck going to a black/spainish barbershop? (Sorry if that offended anyone but I didn't know how else to describe it) My friends tell me they cut hair very good so I might give that a shot. Would would you your advice be to me to ask for a fauxhawk stlye haircut and/or should I try out another barbershop?
